Indian artisans have fueled several businesses like ours and adorned millions of homes and wardrobes with their creations. In many ways, they help us realize our aspirations for a good life. Now is the time to give back.
Life is not as usual. Anxiety is setting in about the un-reined virus and dwindling economy. Many of us, the more privileged ones, will sail through these times, but there are others who won’t. Craftspeople, who depend on daily wages largely, are amongst the most hit. In my years at Pinklay, I have understood one thing about the artisans of India - their integrity, self-worth and sincerity towards their craft is second to none. They have fueled several businesses like ours and adorned millions of homes and wardrobes with their creations around the globe. In many ways, they help us realize our aspirations for a good life. Now is the time to give back. The time when they need us the most.
Post corona times, business will not be as usual, and the ways of running it shouldn’t be too.
Post corona times, business will not be as usual, and the ways of running it shouldn’t be too. This year 2020-21, as a company we have decided to change our measure of growth. Our targets will not be defined in revenue and profits, instead the biggest growth parameter will be the number of artisans we are able to include in our fold. We aim to create work for over 500 artisans across the country in the coming year. We’ll venture into more categories and work harder than ever before to create #allthingsbeautiful that will continue to add to your wonderful lives. I pledge to direct all our efforts towards creating opportunity for our craftspeople across India. That’s all they need; they are more than capable to build their lives and stand on their feet again.
I hope you will continue to be a part of our journey as we try to grow our business with a more inclusive agenda. And on that note, I leave you with a beautiful film we shot showcasing our block printers and quilters in Jaipur. Hunar – celebrating the makers of our story, today and always.
